President Donald Trump proceeded with his months-long feedback of the NFL with another tweet Wednesday morning.
“At least 24 players kneeling this weekend at NFL stadiums that are now having a very hard time filling up,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “The American public is fed up with the disrespect the NFL is paying to our Country, our Flag and our National Anthem. Weak and out of control!”
It is the fourth time in eight days that the president has tweeted about the NFL.
Twitter Trump also returned to his NFL leitmotif this morning, in concert with Fox & Friends. The FNC morning show had warmed up POTUS’s base for him with a segment decrying the disrespect NFL-ers show the military when they take a knee during the national anthem, and a call for team owners to crack the whip and get control of their players.
The Associated Press revealed that 23 NFL players dissented amid the national hymn before evening recreations Sunday by sitting, bowing or raising a clench hand. The showings began last season with previous San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who took a knee amid the national song of devotion to challenge racial imbalance and police ruthlessness in the United States.
The dissents have long gotten under the skin of Trump, who sees them as impolite and unpatriotic. In the previous week alone, Trump has portrayed the NFL on Twitter as “discharging” and guaranteed that the dissents are “slaughtering (the) group.” He has additionally been condemning of magistrate Roger Goodell for neglecting to rebuff players who challenge.
At a rally in Alabama in late September, Trump went so far as to depict players who exhibit with an interjection.
